I made it.....

This blurry picture is of me being pinned at my nursing graduation. I graduated on Friday from SLCC's nursing program. It has been a long road for my family and I could not have done it without them. I decided to go back to school just before Owen turned one. I took a year to do the prerequisites and then waited two years to start the nursing program. During those two years I did general classes and did take one summer off. Needless to say my kids don't know much different than me going to school. During this time we have moved from the home we became a family in.....

and started a new adventure........ nursing school and slowly remodling a new home.

Well we made it through this part of our lives. It was such a growing experience for me. I learned more than I thought possible and made some new friends. I just keep telling Ken that I've spent two years cramming as much information as possible into my head and then recalling it for test after test after test. Then they give you a little pin and say, "OK, go keep people alive."
I'm not sure I'm ready for this but here goes!

Thanks to everyone who helped me get here. Everyone who took my kids for me while I studied took tests and went to clinicals, I couldn't have done it without you.

You're awesome Mandy. Now it's time to relax a little in your new room. Get some sleep and read a book or two. Unfortunately an old house always has projects that will be calling your name. All for a little character!

Congrats. It's such a great feeling to go to your very last class and take your very last class. I was lost for about 2 days, not knowing what to do without class, tests and studying, but then everything changed and somehow now looking back I don't know how I fit it all in!! You WILL keep people alive.

Congrates Mandy. That is a wonderful accomplishment. You will be a great nurse. Now to finally make some money for all those hours and hours of schooling, test and studing.

What a relief to finally be done. You will most likely forget 80% of what you were "made" to remember for tests. The real learning will come when you are working in the field. I learn something new every time I work. You are an awesome mom & nurse! Congrats!

Mandy, I am sooooo proud of you. I know what a long haul it was but I also know what a wonderful nurse you will be. Good luck tomorrow on your new adventure.

I know this is a little late in coming, but congratulations! I feel bad that I didn't recognize your name to give a shout at the graduation--I really did even think about you while I was there remembering that you were trying to get into nursing school three years ago (has it really been that long since Sydni was in my class?!?) Hope the N-CLEX went well for you--Pret (my husband) takes it on Wednesday!
